Froya is the largest island of several thousand that make up the Froya municipality.
Froya is connected to neighbouring island Hitra by the underwater Froya tunnel, and Hitra is, in turn, connected to the western coast of mainland Norway.
The beautiful island archipelago is peaceful, but welcoming, and can be explored by rib tours, sailing ships, skippered motor boats or kayaks. The small and colourful fishing villages boast good places to sample the local seafood and beer from the Froya craft brewery. Notwithstanding the 38,000 wild sheep on the island, there is, above all, a feeling of space.
