Gozo, whose name means joy in Castillian, is the second largest island of the Maltese archipelago and is just a 5 km ferry-ride from Malta.
We welcome Gozo to their first Island Games. Gozo is now part of the Republic of Malta, but the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Sicilians, French and British have all left their mark, not least the Sicilians, who have influenced Gozo’s wonderful cuisine.
Friendly but tranquil, its small villages and Baroque churches nestle in picturesque scenery. Gozo is known for its sunny Mediterranean climate, Neolithic Ggantija temple ruins, rural hiking paths, beaches and stunning diving.
