Clay Sporting will be set across headland at Mont Herault

Mont Herault is located near Pleinmont in the bottom east corner of Guernsey. The area has many German fortifications and there is a watch-house where men of the West (4th) Regiment who would have kept watch for the approach of enemy shipping.

The shooting range is set across the headland at Mont Herault., above Pleinmont in Torteval .

Coming up from the Imperial Hotel at Portelet, turn right at the top of the hill into Route de Crolier where the main road bends sharply to the left.

Coming from Torteval Church, turn left (actually straight on) at the top of the hill where the main road bends sharply to the right before it leads down to the coast at Portelet.

After 400m turn left at the T junction and follow the track to the end.

Take care after turing off the main road as there are a series of sharp, narrow corners.

Limited car parking is available, but the track leading to this is rough and not suitable for all vehicles.

Guernsey Buses regular services will be free during the Games, making transport easier for islanders and visitors, starting the day before the Games on Friday 7th July and continuing until the end of the Games on Friday 14th July.

Although we do not have an Uber service in Guernsey, you can hail taxis on both Android and iPhone using the States of Guernsey new Taxi App which has been launched in time for the Games.

The app provides ad on-demand sevice. Pre-booking a taxi in advance will still need to be done by contacting taxi companies directly. The app will provide an estimated fare for the journey, however, the fare will be taken from the in-vehicle taxi meter and paid directly to the driver.

Mont Herault is above Pleinmont in Torteval 

There are several walking routes from the Imperial Hotel

16 minutes (1.1km) via Rue du Rocher: Coming up from the Imperial Hotel at Portelet, at the top of the hill keep on the main road to the left for 25m and then turn right and follow the track all the way to Mont Herault.

22 minutes (1.5km) via Rue des Valniquets: Coming up the road from the Imperial, turn right almost immediately into Rue des Valniquets. Follow this road up the hill for about 550m and follow the road as Route de Crolier off to the left at the top. Turn right after 100m and follow the track all the way to Mont Herault, including a slight left.
